Welcome to Texas Agriculture Policy. My name is Cahil Murchison. I am a land-use attorney and agriculture policy junkie. When I am not representing Texas landowners, I am breaking down Texas agriculture policy and legislation. This site is meant to serve as a vital resource for lawyers, lobbyists, and the public to navigate the shifting landscape of agricultural policy with clarity and confidence.
My Story
I grew up in Lockhart, Texas, where I was heavily involved in Texas 4-H, raising commercial and rodeo cattle, showing goats, sheep, and swine, and judging livestock. My livestock judging team was the first Texas team in almost 30 years to win the North American International Livestock Exposition contest. I am the only Caldwell County 4-H member to ever serve on Texas 4-H State Council.
In 2021, I graduated Texas A&M University with honors in Agricultural Leadership and Development with a minor in History. In 2024, I graduated from the Texas Tech University School of Law. I spent time as a law clerk in Tahoka and Fredericksburg, Texas. During the 88th Texas Legislative Session, I was the Legislative Legal Intern for the Texas Farm Bureau. Now, I am a land-use attorney in Dripping Springs, Texas.
I spend my days at the intersection of law, policy, and the lands. Through working closely with legislative staff, policy analysts, and Texas landowners, I have seen how easily the impact of a bill can be lost in its legal terminology. My work is dedicated to providing high-quality, professional scrutiny of our state's agricultural policy, ensuring that lawyers, lobbyists, and the public have access to neutral and clear analysis.
This site was born from a passion for keeping Texas agriculturists informed and resilient. From tracking agriculture funding opportunities to monitoring landowner rights at the State Capitol, my mission is to provide an objective lens through which to view the policies that shape our state's future. I am committed to transparency, professional integrity, and the ongoing advocacy for informed governance.
